WMRR only adopts out rabbits that have been spayed or neutered. We routinely vaccinate our rabbits for RHDV2; if you decide to adopt a rabbit who is between their initial and booster, we will ask that you bring the bunny back for their booster day. Sometimes, foster bunnies might not yet be fixed, but we would work with the foster families to have that done while in their care, along with having them vaccinated for RHDV2. Bunnies may be housed indoors only.
We do not adopt out to schools, 4H, or breeders. However, we do have an awesome educational program we can bring to your classroom, scout meeting, birthday party, etc. to teach kids about bunny care and offer the opportunity to pet and interact with a friendly bunny!
Bunnies must be vaccinated for RHDV2 before they may be brought to the shelter for bonding dates. The vaccine has recently been approved in Massachusetts, so check with your veterinarian about getting your bunny up to date. Some of our rabbits are in the process of bonding with rabbits outside our rescue. Bonding can take time, and since not all bonding works, we keep rabbits listed up here until they have been adopted.
